Building a Greener Future: How RDT Architects are Reducing Carbon in the Workplace

At RDT Architects, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword - it’s a commitment. In alignment with UK Net Zero 2050, we’re actively reducing our carbon footprint through smarter design, workplace innovation, and daily conscious choices.

Our Sustainability Champion, Jack Dudley, has been leading the change in assessing our environmental impact, and we’re proud to share some of the initiatives we’ve implemented so far:

• Solar Power – We’ve installed new PV panels with battery storage, allowing us to recharge overnight and feed excess energy back to the grid.

• EV Charging – Our staff and visitors can now charge electric vehicles on-site.

• Carpooling and Remote Work – Reducing emissions through shared transport and virtual meetings.

• Energy-Efficient Lighting – Upgrading our main design studio for a lower carbon impact.

• Less Paper, More Digital – Two-screen workstations and digital documentation to cut down on printing.

• Recycling and Waste Reduction – Office-wide recycling efforts in line with new government legislation.

Beyond these initiatives, we’re fostering a culture where every small action counts - turning off equipment, reducing waste and making mindful energy choices every day.

But this is just the beginning! We’re committed to continuous improvement and will be monitoring our progress to further reduce our carbon footprint in the years ahead.
